    PREAMBLE

It is often said that education is the bedrock of an individual’s or societal growth and development. An uneducated society is one where ineptitude and mediocrity, their negative effects such as inefficiency, low level of development, corruption e.t.c thrive. Also to deprive your children of formal education today is to deliberately sentence your grandchildren to a life of poverty and slavery to their peers.

    HISTORY

Gloryland Nursery and Primary School, dedicated to the glory of God was founded on 6th January 1986 by our amiable proprietress, Mrs. M.H. Igbinovia, an educationist, former head of two big reputable schools in Lagos State and a woman of God who fully tuned to inculcate prizeless gifts upon any child that passes through the school. That was the day Gloryland N/ P School opened its doors to the discerning public, particularly to parents who place much value on and are willing to invest in premium education for their children. From a humble beginning of two (2) pupils registered in the Nursery Two and Reception classes respectively, the school has a vision of building the children of tomorrow’s today. It also provides children with a sound early education through well-supervised activities, away from home where they can begin to learn to cope with and get well-adjusted to other people outside their own families before the secondary school age.

Mrs. M.H. Igbinovia has the vision of establishing an institution of learning for children in Ejigbo and its environs. The vision is like a germinating seed sown in rich soil but awaiting the stage of sprouting flowers. She has been putting everything in place to make the dream a reality. There are times when this school was like a little flame standing in the midst of strong wind. Many thought it would not survive it, but to God be the glory! Today, it stands strong and waxes higher. That is why when others are saying there is a casting down, as far as Gloryland Nursery and Primary School is concerned, it is lifting up.

    WHAT THE SCHOOL IS

Gloryland Nursery and Primary School is a great citadel of learning. This can be attested to by the numerous number of parents wanting to send their children/wards to receive the Nursery and Primary here in the school. The school seeks to give children the best and highest possible academic, Christian and moral education. For over two decades now, the school has prepared many children who have gained admission into secondary schools of a high standard  (including De Gloryland College) in Lagos State and beyond with well-developed personal skills, self-confidence and the best academic qualifications within their scope.

Admission into the school is not a factor of old glory accredited to this school but that of her present glory which is superb. In fact, there is no gain-saying the fact that since her inception 25 years ago, the school has earned herself a high reputation for consistency and relentlessness in maintaining an enviable academic and moral standard thereby setting a record that for many decades to come will be difficult to break. This is evidenced in the awards, laurels and prizes won by the school herself and the pupils who went out to represent the school in various academics and various competitions within the state.

We have also engaged in excursions. The excursion is a way of exposing pupils to the practical aspect +of what they learn in the classroom. Through excursions, pupils are taken to different places of interest to enhance and improve their knowledge Gloryland N/ P School has organized many trips for her pupils at intervals and the pupils benefit enormously from such trips. Among the area of interest visited are Whispering Palm Badagry; Muritala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, (twice); Olumo Rock in Ogun State; Atan Zoo in Ogun State; Train Ride to Ogun State; National Theatre Iganmu; National Ports Authority, Apapa; 1st Storey Building in Nigeria; Tandi Guarana and Apapa Amusement Park; Silver Bird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos; LTV 8, Ikeja; Dangote Noodles Nig. Ltd, Ikorodu; G-Ten Nig. Ltd, Maryland; Melrose Books and Publishing Company Ltd, Ota, Ogun State; Lekki Conservation Centre, Lagos State; Mr. Fish Aqua Zoo, Ipaja, Lagos, etc.

Seminars and in-service training are organized from time to time for the improvement of teachers’ capability and for the success of the pupils. There is no doubt that the school can boast of a good administrative system. Excellent administrative skill has brought about the cooperation between teaching and non-teaching staff.

The standard of discipline in the school is very high. The teachers, as well as the pupils, are highly disciplined and hardworking.

Gloryland Nursery and Primary School is a co-educational primary institution founded solidly on the Christian ideals of yesteryears that once made education a high-priced jewel. Attention is gained on giving all pupils sound academic training cum faultless moral polishing. This is based on the learning theory in psychology which believes that we live out what we learn and there is hardly anything we do without learning it. In a nutshell, our aim is to turn out morally and academically sound products.

Equally important is the social atmosphere. Within the Gloryland Nursery and Primary School community, pupils learn how to get on with others, while living happily and constructively. The pupils also respond positively to hard work and sensible discipline.

In extra-curricular activities, the school has been quite active in Intra and inter-school sporting activities. The pupils are constantly exposed to physical exercises to ensure healthy living and mental alertness. The school won numerous laurels in athletic competitions, especially in inter-house sports which the school was able to honour. Besides, the first-ever inter-house sports organized by the school in 2009 had been a colourful spectacle that drew the administration of members of the public.

Since its commencement in 1986, the school has produced several sets of graduates who have either graduated or are now in reputable schools, colleges and universities in Nigeria and abroad.

What is really behind Gloryland Nursery and Primary School’s strength and excellence is her commitment to prayers, hard work and determination of the management, teachers and the school’s Parents/Teachers Association (PTA).

The school which only had Nursery, Kindergarten and primary levels has now progressed to having a secondary school (both junior and senior) and can conveniently compete with other schools of high reputation and goodwill. This has opened up a form of wondering who gave us the strength. The extracurricular activities gave us more insight and exposure to be current. The school also held her inter-house sports of which the outcome has been talking of the town.
